Leah won this TREASURE HUNT. Our final captains…

Leah Gross (Dark Green): a married mother of two who entered 100+ sweepstakes a day from Oolitic, IN
Eileen Curry (Steel Gray): a married mother of two, mother-in-law of one, and grandmother of two who enjoyed garedning & painting from Newport, NJ
Linda Cordero (Teal): a casino employee from Niagara Falls, NY

I’d like to mention that Leah’s daughter (Bethany) appeared on the show on 10/7/19.

$2K Tossup: THINGS

Leah tripled up w/ HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE.

Round 1: PHRASE

All Leah here: a $650 S, 2 I’s, an obvious $600 T, 2 A’s, a FP O, 2 $700 R’s, 4 E’s & U to clean out the vowels, and 2 $650 M’s.

I T ‘ S / _ I _ E
A / _ R E A M
_ O M E / T R U E

IT’S LIKE A DREAM COME TRUE for Leah as she scored a $3,550 PR and now had $6,550 to her name.

Mystery Round: CHARACTERS

Eileen BANKRUPTed right on the spot ($650) while Linda whiffed w/ T for terrible. Leah lit up $2K worth of N’s, but after buying an A pair, she BANKRUPTed near $3,500 to flush down the $1,750 remainder. Eileen picked up the MDW w/ an obvious D, but that got taken away by Leah’s BANKRUPT. Linda took control w/ a $550 P, 2 $500 R’s, a $3,500 S, and 2 W’s on the MW near $650 before she took a $5,050 gamble…$$$ (Pat: “Well, what do you expect from a woman who spent the last 15 years working at a casino?”). She then said the last consonant of 2 $500 M’s…

S _ P _ R M A N / A N D
W _ N D _ R / W _ M A N

…but her teammates would have to shout “No!” as she blew the $16,050 solve w/ SPIDERMAN AND WONDER WOMAN (we also saw Vanna putting her hands to her face). Therefore, Leah took the house minimum w/ SUPERMAN AND WONDER WOMAN (Pat: “I don’t know who feels worse here.” / Linda: “Oh, I do.”).

SOLE DUD: T (Linda)
BANKRUPTS: 3 (Eileen twice, Leah once)
CRITICAL DQ: Linda’s blown solve

Leah: $7,550/Others: $0 apiece

BTW, Linda realized her fatal mistake before Pat even said a word after the missolve.

Express Round: WAYD?

Linda got going w/ 2 $600 R’s, but LaT stopped her cold and it’s all Leah from here: a $500 N, 2 I’s, a $500 G, a $600 S, E, 2 $500 T’s, the rest of the vowels (2 A’s, 3 O’s, U), and 2 $500 W’s.

John Sukup (Red): a father of three from Oswego, NY
Marisa Cruz (Royal Blue): a mental health counselor from CT (orig. from RI and born in Portugal)

NOTE: John’s last name is pronounced as “soo-kup”. Also, Marisa’s playing as a proxy for her mom, who was too frail to play. Marisa’s name tag was done on the fly in the old style w/ the letter stickers.

Marisa then got her own BANKRUPT after a $650 L. Jamie got back $650 w/ N, but after buying 5 E’s, that same MDW Bankrupt stole the $450 remainder. John lit up M & D for $500 each, but then LaT. Polly Coon (Maroon): a retiree w/ one child and two grandkids from Charleston, WV

Polly did most of the work here: a $700 R, a $500 M, O, an obvious $650 F, a $650 H, 2 $600 S’s (almost got that BANKRUPT nearby), but then I for invalid. Reinaldo just decided to solve (and he left out a triple in the process)…

WoF Linked Game Second Chance Promotion Recap (Game #1)

Now we look at these lottery episodes from 2017 and this one has a bunch of changed rules from the normal game. Here’s the rundown:

A total of 84 lucky sweepstakes winners had a chance to win cash. They are divided into 12 color-coded teams of 7, with each team member wearing a colored polo shirt embroidered w/ the WoF logo. One person from each team was randomly selected to be their team captain. The team captain got to play the game and kept whatever they win. Their winnings are also matched and split evenly among their 6 teammates. For example, if the team captain won $12K in their game, the captain gets $12K and the teammates get $2K each. The teams are also numbered from 1-12 in a random order. The captains for teams 1-3 are positioned from left to right (Team 1 at red, Team 2 at yellow, Team 3 at blue) in that order and played on show 1 out of 4. Team captains 4-6 played show 2, and so on.

The games follow the format of S34 (therefore, I’m filing these episodes under that season), but are played only for cash. The following gameplay elements are not used:

  • Crossword Puzzles
  • Prize Wedge
  • Gift Tag
  • 1/2 Car
  • Prize Puzzle
  • Bonus Round Car

BEST/WORST MOMENTS OF S34

I know I was mostly busy throughout the summer but here’s my personal lists of good and bad.

BEST (NOT much)

1. The Kikers’ $100K win. Shame that’s the only such win this season.

2. Joanna Duesler’s dominance on the Mon. episode of Southern Charm.

3. Tina Arons $50K win on Oct. 18, 2016.

4. Quite a bit of 4-1 weeks in the BR (NYC is one such example).

5. Maingame sweep on Nov. 29, 2016 by the Hubers.

6. Exciting episode on the second episode on NYC week (Nic winning the VW Jetta).

HONORABLE MENTION goes to Amanda Rubio the joker on the finale of the fourth AG week on the NYC set.

WORST (this had more bad)

1. All eight $100K losses especially “Wheel Around the World” week which had TWO. Michael Taylor STILL HASN’T learned his lesson that there is NEVER a technical win in this game and he’s still an asshole for asking us the soap opera ratings when this is for a game show — what is your damn problem? You seriously need help.

2. 5 shutout weeks including “WAtW” and “V8” week (if they ever do the latter, again…).

3. “A STREETCAR NAKED DESIRE” and “POPSICLE BIKE” incidents.

4. $50K post-buzzer solve on ADVISORY GROUP on the second “Disney Sea & Shore” week.

5. Todd bombing out on the finale of Chicago week. What a shame, too, because we were going for a PERFECTO on that week.

6. Samantha blowing $18,900 for leaving out FALLS in ICE FIELDS, WATERFALLS, GLACIERS in the PP round on the finale of “Show You The World”.

7. Surprising loss on the Season 34 finale by Kris. SECOND COMPARE wasn’t gonna work when there was no S.

8. The Grahams passing the chance to go on the EXPRESS on the Wed. episode of Disney Grand Adventures and they would’ve won their game by a bigger margin.

9. Again, not much magic for Disney weeks.
