WoF Recap: January 19, 2026

On JP Genius’ birthday week (he’s celebrating this Thursday), we’re starting a new theme w/ a name that sounds like the opposite of a famous John Milton poem — “Paradise Found”.

EPISODE #8301: 🏝️PARADISE FOUND🏝️

$1K Toss-Up: PEOPLE

_ R E _ _ U _ E
H U N T _ _ S

Brian looks like he’s one of the TREASURE HUNTERS. Our first panelists this week from left to right…

Brian Townsend: former soccer player of 30+ yrs. who coaches that sport for kids under 11 and has an 8-year-old daughter Jasmine (she also plays soccer, but is now in jujitsu) from Pembroke Pines, FL

Callie Meredith: hobby collector (she’s done everything from being a trivia jockey, trying out for musical theater, teaching herself guitar, and her most recent one of cross stitching); her parents use this show as a way to teach her how to read and spell, and it became a nightly tradition in her household (now she’s starting that tradition w/ her two young daughters) from West Chester, OH

Nikki Robinson: hairapist (a hybrid of hair stylist and therapist) who makes her husband do chores when she wins (they also love playing tennis and bowling and UNO); when she went to the open call casting for this show, she told him he would get a call back, and she made it (the payout is a good steak dinner in L.A.) from Philadelphia

$2K Toss-Up: AROUND THE HOUSE

F A M I L _
H _ _ R _ _ O M

Brian’s pronunciation of the second word of FAMILY HEIRLOOM is questionable (he said it as “hair-loom”)…it’s accepted to triple up.

I (already) FOUND A NEW JOB, and that’s writing posts on my site over 13 years ago, but this lady could only mutter I’M GOING A NEW ___, and she loses $40K.

On Ryan’s way in, he was confused on what the theme would be, because he brought in red & blue dice.

Celebrity WoF Recap: January 16, 2026

GAME 1

$1K Toss-Up: PERSON

P H _ L A _ _ H _ _ _ _ S T

Kathy says she knows it (and she also holds this job), but it’s Rick who buzzes in w/ PHILANTHROPIST. Info on he and the ladies…

Rick Ross: rapper/entrepreneur and two-time “NY Times” best-selling author (his new book is about taking it to the next level) who has a new single called “For the Money” produced by Pharrell (the music video for that was filmed in Paris); he’s playing for Fighting4Freedom (it gives underprivileged and wrongly convicted people the opportunity to present their case in another format; everyone they’ve ever freed has never went back, never arrested or convicted again)

Riki Lindhome: actor/comedian/musician who’s touring as a one-woman musical right now called “Dead Inside” (it’s about fertility); she also starred in “Queens of the Dead”, “Knives Out”, and “Wednesday”; she’s playing for Letters Charity (her husband is on the board of this organization; it’s where people write letters to Santa, and Santa and his elves fulfill the entire family’s Christmas list by giving everyone a computer plus a huge financial grant to just help their holidays and make it a lot better)

Kathy Hilton: philanthropist, TV personality, and fashion designer who stars in “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” (she doesn’t watch TV and is very ADD except for WoF since Vanna is a dear friend of hers); during Vanna’s pregnancy, this celeb she had the most beautiful birth tape that her husband Rick had filmed of Paris and she invited Vanna to be in her birthing room at Cedars Sinai (we see a shot of her son Conrad and girlfriend Emma Kenney); she’s playing for Yogi’s House (a dog rescue)

$2K Toss-Up: HUMAN OR ANIMAL?

E _ G _ _
B E _ V _ R

Kathy once again knows an answer, but it’s Riki who solves EAGER BEAVER.

Round 1: HEADLINE

Riki: instant dud of T after barely dodging LaT

Kathy (after asking whether the other lady said P or C as well as where the MDWs are): oddly goes for P and it’s an unsurprising dud

Rick: $2,400 S trio (close call), C for crud

Riki: $2,700 R trio, three E’s, BANKRUPT near $650 (lost $2,450)

Kathy: R repeat

Rick: $1,950 D trio (close one), $1,800 G pair, three I’s, $1K W pair, $1,600 N pair, solve…

D _ D G E R S / W I N
W _ R _ D / S E R I E S
_ G _ I N !

He solves “DODGERS WIN WORLD SERIES AGAIN!” for $13,500.

Round 2: RHYME TIME

Kathy (after mispronouncing the category as “Ryan Time”): $650 R, $1,500 S trio, $3,500 T, oddly goes for U and it’s an unsurprising dud

Rick: C fails him again even after dodging BANKRUPT near $650

Riki: $1K H pair, four I’s, $1,300 W pair, triple A’s, $2,500 N quintet, solve…

S H A R I N _ / A
_ A N I N I
W I T H / S _ _ N _ _
S W _ _ N _ _

Riki’s SHARING A PANINI WITH SYDNEY SWEENEY for $14,300.

Kathy: ZIP/Rick: $14,500/Riki: $16,300

Triple Toss-Up: COLORFUL LANGUAGE

1.

_ E _ / F _ _ R _ _ I

We’ve got random colors for a car here, and Riki thinks of a RED FERRARI.

2.

P I N K / _ _ N T _ _ Y

Kathy solves PINK BENTLEY.

3.

_ U _ _ L _
L _ M _ _ _ _ _ _ N I

This is actually a song by Rick, but Riki beats him to the punch w/ “PURPLE LAMBORGHINI”.

Round 3: PHRASE

Riki: $2,400 S trio, five I’s, $3,500 T quintet, quick solve…

T _ I S / I S
_ _ T T I _ _
I _ T _ _ _ S T I _ _

THIS IS GETTING INTERESTING — she nailed that one for $25,650 in that PR. And you could be on your way to South Africa courtesy of GATE 1 Travel if you enter her name on the website.

Riki gets the DREADED list…

and chooses WAYD?.

$100K Bonus Round

Riki lands on the ***. Here’s a trio to start…

_ _ R _ _ N _
_ _ / _ _ S

HCMA adds two more on the bottom…

_ _ R _ _ N _
M _ / A _ S

She came close the first time w/ WORKING MY ARMS before trailing off w/ WARMING MY ARMS. While I’m WORKING MY ABS, she loses $25K.

GAME 2

$1K Toss-Up: RHYME TIME

D _ P P E _ / R A _ P E R

DIPPEL RAPPER, Kathy?! That doesn’t even rhyme. -__-

D A P P E _ / R A _ P E R

Rick’s a DAPPER RAPPER, but Riki scores first this half. She recently released a solo album called “No Worries If Not” (there’s funny songs on it and she’s like a blonde Weird Al).

Some of Kathy’s several fashion lines include hats and travel jewelry that doesn’t break the bank. And we get a shot of Jim wearing a bath robe and showing off his collection of bath items from every Hilton hotel he stayed in. She also has another jewelry line w/ her daughter Nicky (it’s called Theo Grace, which is named after her grandchildren).

Rick collects cars (ranging from the 50’s to today). He has an annual car show that he does every June or July that brings out about 15K people; it’s held in his front yard at the Promised Land in Georgia. On the subject of Lamborghinis, he has a blue and black one.

$2K Toss-Up: PEOPLE

C A S _ / O _
C _ A R A C T E _ S

Riki of this CAST OF CHARACTERS solves again.

Round 1: BEFORE & AFTER

Riki: LaT right away

Kathy: $600 R, two E’s and two A’s (she says she’s addicted to the show now, and always looks at what Vanna is wearing), BANKRUPT near TD (lost $100)

Rick: $650 S (close call), same BANKRUPT

Riki: $650 T, one O, $2,800 L quartet, $950 F, solve…

F A L L _ _ _ / _ _
L O _ E
T R _ A _ _ L E S

She’s FALLING IN LOVE TRIANGLES for $9,150.

Round 2: TONGUE TWISTER

Kathy: $950 S, one A, S repeat (she tried to change it to R to no avail)

Rick: $1,950 R trio, T for turnover

Riki: $550 M, two E’s, bad O buy

Kathy: no C on MDW in between $650/$900

Rick: F for flunk

Riki: same BANKRUPT (lost a measly $50)

Kathy: $1K G pair, SIX B’s for $21K (she’s held to that letter, because she called that before spinning), solve…

R _ B B E R / B A B _
B _ G G _ / B _ M _ E R S

She solves RUBBER BABY BUGGY BUMPERS for $32,700!

Kathy: $32,700/Rick: ZERO/Riki: $12,150

Triple Toss-Up: SHOW ME THE MONEY

1.

D O L _ A R
_ I _ _ S

All of these have “dollar”, but Riki is incorrect w/ DOLLAR BILLS (that was my answer too).

D O L L A R
_ I G N S

Kathy blows it w/ DOLLAR COINS, and Rick just makes it in time w/ DOLLAR SIGNS.

2.

D O L L _ R / _ O R
D O L L A _

Riki knows that whatever winnings she has earned will be matched DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR, and donated to charity.

3.

_ _ _ L _ _ _ / _ O
_ _ U _ _ N U _ _

Riki solves DOLLARS TO DOUGHNUTS.

Round 3: PHRASE

After Riki gets the MDW near LaT w/ S, it’s SPEED-UP time…

_ _ ’ S / _ _ _ _ _ / _ _
_ _ / _ / _ _ _ _ / _ _ _ _

…and she has spun $1,650 per consonant.

Riki: 2 T’s
Kathy: N
Rick: 2 I’s (Kathy tried to spin)
Riki: 3 G’s
Kathy: 4 O’s (she tried to repeat the T)
Rick: B (IT’S GOING TO BE A GOOD GAME won’t work when there’s no G in the last word)
Riki: 2 E’s
Kathy: D (she left out the A in her solve attempt)
Rick: 2 A’s (NMV)
Riki: M (DUD)

I T ’ S / G O I N G / T O
B E / A / G O O D / _ E A _

Kathy tries to solve, but Ryan stops her and asks for a letter, but she repeats the T. Rick then ignores Ryan’s advice to Kathy (ugh -__-) and solves “IT’S GOING TO BE A GOOD YEAR” for $21,650.

GT: $81,500
BANKRUPT TRASH: $800

Kathy’s generic category list…

  • PEOPLE
  • PHRASE
  • THING

She goes for PEOPLE.

$100K Bonus Round

After we get another shot of son Conrad and his girlfriend Emma, Kathy lands on the I of SPIN. Nice head start…

_ _ _ E R S
_ N _ / T _ _ E R S

She WIPES OUT w/ PNBOC and could only say FARMERS, G and W. They were GIVERS AND TAKERS, and worst of all, she loses $100K.

MY RATING

G1: 6
G2: 4

Overall: 5

This show is now in repeats for at least the next two weeks. Not sure if there’s any new episode during the coverage of the Olympics.

Romi Benoit: certified TikTok baker (she started w/ normal bread rolls and now makes Peruvian alfajores, which is a shortbread cookie w/ manjar blanca (that’s dulcé de leche and powdered sugar on top)); she and her aunt would watch this show, and since her aunt has a thick accent, all she remembers is the famous chant from her, and so she brought the chant to her elementary school of Shadowlawn (she and the kids play Wordle there every afternoon) from Naples, FL (orig. from Peru)

Suzanne Moriarty: clothing stylist for 22 years married w/ some sons and a daughter-in-law who walks a special 5K every year in October and is a 4-year breast cancer survivor from Wilmington, DE

We don’t hear about the book Vanna read on last night’s show, but Vanna would like to go to places she hasn’t been to like Australia and Greece. And Ryan’s content w/ the food at the Epcot World Showcase (I was there last month) featuring places like Morocco, Mexico, and France.

OBIT: Scott Adams

Scott Adams, the creator of the popular comic strip “Dilbert”, passed away this past Tuesday at the age of 68 due to prostate cancer. His career ended after making controversial racial comments back in 2023.

The title character along with Dogbert were mentioned as a puzzle in the episode that aired May 12, 1998 in S15.

Ryan and Vanna are sitting on VESPAs. He mentions that he grew up watching the show “CHiPs”, and wanted to ride on one of those motorscooters. Vanna accidentally tossed away the key, to which Ryan gets it. And we don’t see Shayne coming over.
