EPISODE #7060: HOME SWEET HOME

$1K Toss-Up: PHRASE

T H _ R E ‘ S / N O
_ _ A C E / _ _ _ E / I T

Karen knows that THERE’S NO PLACE LIKE IT (the “it” being Margaritaville). Our final players this week to begin a new month…

Karen Jansen: adventure concierge and aunt of three from San Diego (originally from Swansea, IL)

Jessica Walker: residential supervisor who works with adults having intellectual disabilities and mental health illnesses from Richmond, VA

Scott Ellyn: married to Marcine w/ 6 kids as a blended family from Calabasas, CA

And this will be the last time we get to hear that darn Margaritaville plug before the next Toss-Up. Thank goodness…

$2K Toss-Up: WAYD?

A D D _ N G / A N _
_ _ B _ R A _ _ I N G

Jessica knows about ADDING AND SUBTRACTING for control. And she tried to spin before Jim described the prize on the Wheel, but thankfully Pat stopped her.

FEATURED MARGARTIVAVILLE TRIP: Gatlinburg, TN worth $7,784

Round 1: AROUND THE HOUSE

Four T’s for $2,400 send her on her way, followed by three E’s, a $1K S pair, four A’s, two P’s for the Margaritaville gift tag, but then the LaT to leave $4,900 cash & gift card on the table. Scott then SPINGLES for a $650 L…

T _ E – A _ T
A P P L _ A _ _ E S

…and he gets a $350 bonus for solving STATE-OF-THE-ART APPLIANCES.

SOLE LaT: Jessica

Mystery Round: PHRASE

Scott’s off to a nice $7K start w/ two T’s, followed by three E’s and A’s, a $2,700 R trio and two H’s on the MW near $650 before he takes the money for those (but it would’ve been the $$$). Next up are a $500 N, a $700 G, the obvious I, but then M for mistake. Karen’s second in line w/ a $650 L, a $1,500 C trio (I thought it sounded like she said D, which would be a dud), but then the sole dud vowel of O. Jessica follows w/ two S’s for the Tennessee trip, the final vowel of U, a $650 F…but then that CRITICAL DUD of D while on the other MW to squander $9,184 cash & TN. Scott won’t take any chances…

We’re BARELY SCRATCHING THE SURFACE, and he’s solved for $12,150.

Scott: $13,150/Karen: $1K/Jessica: $2K

PP/Express Round: THINGS

This round’s all Karen and she went all the way — two S’s for that MDW (NO reaction to that), two FP E’s, a $7K N pair (NO reaction to that, either), three A’s, a $550 D, a $1K F pair, the other two non-I vowel singles (U and O), a $1,300 C pair, and two FP R’s. There will be…

A C R E S / A N D
A C R E S / O F / F U N

…awaiting her at the Margaritaville Vacation Club by Wyndham in ST. THOMAS worth $7,840 — PR.

MILLION DOLLAR BONUS ROUND #4

There’s nobody w/ Karen, so she simply hands that sparkly green wedge to Pat and her all-important spin lands on…the C in AMERICA’S (I have this bad feeling it’s the I next door). We do this all the time on YouTube…

Sorry Joyce, but great match between Scott & Karen, BUT THE STINKIN’ ONE AWAY ON THE MILLION RUINED EVERYTHING — UGH!!!!! 😡

Rating: 6 (thanks to that MDBR heartbreak)

    Kinda interesting episode here.

Another spingle two days in a row!?

Interesting that R3 was completely filled in by one player without Express help.

Another baseball-themed triple tossup? Those puzzle writers must love that sport.

BR reminded me of Doug Robert’s episode except that it was more straightforward and less misleading. Shame that the million was missed by a peg.

And wow, the audience was just ABYSMAL today…I NEED to attend a taping before this season comes to a close.

A entirely filled in PR in R3 without the Express Wedge being hit even once? That’s something you don’t see every day.

It was very strange that the Triple Tossup was baseball-themed for the second time this season.

I RSTLNE’d the BR because it reminded me of Doug Roberts’ $100K loss on 1/25/2019, but unfortunately that means Joyce just cost us a PBRW.

TWO SPIKES AWAY FROM THE $1M!!! CLOSE CALL!!!

My Rating: 6 (Would’ve been a 7 had it not been for the MDBR heartbreak)

One space away. One space away… 🤦🏾‍♂️

Well, at least Karen nailed the BR after a wild match between her and Scott. Sorry Joyce…

Karen did amazing to end a HSH on a note of 4-1 (and enough for the producers to finally able to give a home to a contestant next season)- except that she was ONE SPOOKY SPACE SHY TO THE JACKPOT, ouch.
