$1K Tossup: WAYW?

I don’t have MY COLLEGE SWEATSHIRT, but Kristen is correct. Rounding out September are…

Kristen Engelmann: yacht sales broker from Ft. Lauderdale (I hope she’s OK after what Hurricane Irma did to FL)

Nate Nelson: special Ed teacher’s assistant at T.G. ES (& frequent runner) from Atlanta

Kim Knotts: 1st Grade teacher at Newland ES from Laguna Woods

$2K Tossup: THING

M Y _ T _ R Y
N O _ _ L

Nate reads a MYSTERY NOVEL.

Round 1: FOOD & DRINK

But he wastes a turn w/ the MDW’s left side. Second, Kim captures five T’s for $12,500, buys three E’s and two A’s, but BANKRUPTs near $650 to forfeit the $12K remainder. Third, Kristen takes an $1,800 pair of S’s, but the same MDW BANKRUPT strikes again. Nate follows w/ four FP O’s, an H for the WC, the last vowel of I, a $1,200 pair of R’s, and an $800 G…

_ O T / R O A S T

…he solves POT ROAST WITH ROOT VEGETABLES for $2,250 and $4,250 altogether.

BANKRUPTS: 3 (all players)

Mystery Round: SAME LETTER

T for trouble is how Kim starts this round. Kristen secondly uncovers a $3,500 S, a $700 N, and three E’s, but the other normal BANKRUPT takes away $3,950. Nate thirdly picks a $600 D, but buys a worthless O. Kim next says an M on the MW near $650 and obviously gambles…SORRY. After Kristen BANKRUPTs again (this one next to $650), Nate buys an I but LaTs out. Kim then requests a P for the MDW, two B’s on the 1/2 CAR near $900, the last vowel of two U’s, and three C’s for the other 1/2 CAR (that’s also the SL bonus). She goes for the big solve…

Round 4: FUN & GAMES

But the host is worried about her sluggish spin for good reason, because she’s BANKRUPTED near $650 to give up that MDW. After Kristen hits the other normal one, Nate says a $500 T, an E, a $550 R, but it’s S-U time…

I no-lettered this one due to the two two-letter words on the bottom.

Both Gabe and Laura strike out right away w/ N and R, respectively (she was on TD). Annie then uncovers a $1,400 pair of T’s, but it’s S-U time…

$100K Bonus Round

Annie’s stopping point is the R. She’ll need the right vowel for the following…

_ R _ _ N
_ _ R _ _ R _ _

She’s going w/ BGHO…

B R O _ N
_ O R _ _ R O _

but she only gets the first word of BROWN CORDUROY. I can tell you right now that she’s lost one of the higher money amounts…

…AND UNFORTUNATELY FOR HER, IT WAS THE BIG ONE — SHE’S THE FIRST $100,000 LOSER OF S35. No wonder she fell apart big time after such a great run in the front game.
