WoF Recap: March 27, 2017

$1K Tossup: LANDMARK

_ M _ _ _ E / _ T A _ E
_ U _ _ _ _ _ _

Kim Battaile: sporting goods worker by day and MBA-seeking student by night from San Diego

Lisa Noyes: volunteer for school & church from Plano, TX

Daniel Masters: security worker for Cleveland Indians from Olmsted Falls, OH

$2K Tossup: PLACES

H I _
N E _ G _ B _ R H O _ _ S

Daniel flubs by a letter w/ HIS NEIGHBORHOODS, which allows Lisa to solve HIP NEIGHBORHOODS.

FIRST NYC TRIP ON OFFER: Conrad New York w/ tickets to “Cagney the Musical”

Mon./Wed./Fri. Gift Tag: ticketmaster

Her first moves are a $700 T, but then the BANKRUPT near $650. Second, Daniel calls up two H’s for $1,200, a couple E’s, a $1,300 pair of N’s, an I, and two O’s. Those are followed by a $700 S, the other two vowels, a $500 D, a $700 L, and a $600 R before he tries to solve this…

_ I R A _ L E / O N
T H E / H U D S O N

This happened in January 2009, and Daniel knows that’s the “MIRACLE ON THE HUDSON” for $3,750.

Crossword/Mystery Round: BIG _______

That man loses control right away w/ T.  Second, Kim also whiffs w/ R. Third, Lisa digs up a $600 D, two E’s, and three A’s before she says two L’s on the MW near LaT and risks a Benjamin…BANKRUPT. After Daniel repeats the same dud consonant he said before, Kim proceeds to call a FP I, an $1,800 P pair, a $650 S, and the last vowel of O, but the same normal BANKRUPT takes away $2,200. Lisa follows w/ a $1,600 M pair, a K for the 1/2 CAR near $900, but then N for nothing while on the WC. Once Daniel hits the same normal BANKRUPT

(M) –   –    –  (D)
(M) –   –    –  (A)
(A) –   –    –   (L)(E)(_)(O)(_)(S)(K)(I)

Kim says “LEBOWSKI” to double her $1K.

DUDS: T (Daniel; repeated by him), R (Lisa), N (Lisa)
BANKRUPTS: 3 (whole panel)

PP/Express Round: WAYD?

Kim picks up that MDW right away w/ two R’s, FPs triple E’s, but then gives up that sparkly green wedge to the other normal BANKRUPT. Second for Lisa are an $1,800 N trio, a $500 G, two I’s and an A, but then the BANKRUPT near $650 to surrender $1,800. Third in Daniel’s favor are two T’s for the WC, but then S for sorry. Kim then SPINGLES for a $500 B…

R E N T I N G / A
_ _ N _ E R T I B _ E

…she could be RENTING A CONVERTIBLE at the Rincon Beach Resort in PUERTO RICO worth $6,300.

SOLE DUD: S (Daniel)
BANKRUPTS: 2 (ladies)

Daniel: $3,750 WC/Kim: $8,800 cash & P.R./Lisa: $2K

$3K Tossup: THINGS

W A L _ _ N G
S _ O _ _

Lisa’s feeling comfortable in her WALKING SHOES.

Speed-Up: FUN & GAMES

$1,600’s the consonant payoff. The F is said late…

T _ X T _ N G / _
S _ _ L _ _ / F _ C _

Kim will be TEXTING A SMILEY FACE, because she solves for $6,400 and a ticket to Bonusland.

Daniel: $3,750/Kim: $15,200 cash & P.R./Lisa: $5K

GT: $23,950
BANKRUPT TRASH (MDW not factored): $4,800

$100K Bonus Round

BMDO gives her…

M _ _ E

…a GAME OVER, and we’re not gonna MAKE WAY for her winning $34K.

Very disappointing show due to 6 bankrupts and 5th BR loss in a row.

    My rating: Low 5

if kim battaile would’ve had that million dollar wedge in front of her and take it to the bonus round to win a million dollars in the bonus round it would’ve been awfully nice if kim battaile won the million in the bonus round but there gonna do that again
