WoF Recap: April 29, 2015

Mickey has returned to do the intro — looks like you know the pattern this week.

$1K Tossup: PERSON

_ Y
T E A M M _ _ E

Joshua & Barbara are on the board w/ MY TEAMMATE. Wed.’s couples…

Joshua & Barbara Perlman: own a church (from Phoenix)
James & Jen Valera: from HI
Noelle & Timmy Raymond: he works for a leading floor manufacturer while she’s a speech/language pathologist at North Syracuse Junior HS; they’re from Syracuse, NY

$5K SPIN ID: RR8199360

_ A _ M _ T _ A N S

There were 101 of these guys and the Raymonds know that they’re DALMATIANS.

Round 1: FUN & GAMES

They get that MDW right away w/ three T’s, call up an $1,800 pair of H’s and buy two E’s, after which they say a $700 N, two $600 R’s, six A’s, two K’s for the Zappos gift tag, two $500 P’s and the last vowel of I, then we’ve displayed…

_ A K I N _ / A
_ P _ A _ H / A T / T H E
_ A T E R / P A R K

…I wasn’t MAKING A SPLASH AT THE WATER PARK on my most recent visit to Disney World, but they’ve secured another $5,950 cash & GT ($7,950 overall).

Mystery Round: FOOD & DRINK

The Perlmans are up first w/ two S’s for a grand, an A buy, two $600 L’s, and four FP O’s, then come three R’s for $1,950 an I, and three E’s to clean out the vowels…

S L O _ – R O A S _ E _
_ O R _
_ E _ _ E R L O I _

…they smell a SLOW-ROASTED PORK TENDERLOIN $3,400.

PR #2

Valeras: $0/Ramymonds: $7,950 cash & GT MDW/Perlmans: $4,400

PP/Express Round: PHRASE

Now that we finally hear from the Valeras, they pick off four T’s for two grand, two I’s, a $900 S, a $500 M, and four E’s before we turn to Vanna’s board…

I T ‘ S / T I M E / T _
_ E _ E _ _ _ T E

IT’S TIME TO CELEBRATE you two — you’ve won $2,900 and this DISNEY WORLD trip worth $7,308.

PR #3

Valeras: $10,208 cash & trip/Ramymonds: $7,950 cash & GT MDW/Perlmans: $4,400

$3K Tossup: RHYME TIME

_ / _ R I _ _ _
T O / _ _ _ / _ _ D

Timmy says A FRIEND TO THE END to take back the lead.

Round 4: SHOW BIZ

They’ve first uncovered a T, S and two N’s all at $700 apiece, buy an O and two I’s, light up a $700 R, but next is the first mistake all night long w/ W (they’ve spun that red $700 space every time). Second for the Perlmans are a $500 Y, a $700 L, a U, a $650 G, and a $900 H before we finally get into S-U mode…

Y O U R / N _ _ _
I N / L I G H T S

…w/ the last consonant worth $1,500. They call that out (the M)…

Y O U R / N _ M _
I N / L I G H T S

…and solve YOUR NAME IN LIGHTS for four grand.

Valeras: $10,208 cash & trip/Ramymonds: $10,950 cash & GT MDW/Perlmans: $8,400

GT: $29,558

Pat’s holding their MDW since they didn’t bring anybody along w/ them and Noelle takes the BW to the ***.

Category: PHRASE
Just this one little old letter to start in this one-liner…

_ _ _ _ _ N _ / _ _

They CDMA OUT of the game, and it wasn’t something ending in UP according to them. Time was literally ZIPPING BY, and is this playing a TOTAL TRAINWRECK?…

well, almost — the super big one was under the N of WIN. Their envelope had $32K, so they leave as the lowest-winning champions this season by just $50.

Very disappointing. One space from an ultimate heartbreak.

My rating: 2(because of the lowest champs)

  2. JP Mackey April 30, 2015 / 3:57 am

The first 3 rounds were real nice…but the Final Spin with only one consonant remaining and an INSANELY hard Bonus Round?
