WoF Recap: April 24, 2015

The last set of this week is the one from Sandals.

$1K Tossup: ON THE MAP

J A _ _ _ _ _ V _ _ _ E
F _ _ R _ _ A

Suzanne locates JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA. The end-of-week players…

Suzanne Geckler: attorney for prod. of children’s TV from Valencia, CA
Curtis Cooney: financial analyst an 12-man relay team cpt. from Longview, WA
Paula Saff: professor of Accounting from Brooklyn

$2K Tossup: THING

W _ _ _ I _ G
_ E _ _

Curtis solves WISHING WELL.

FEATURED $6K TRIP: Beaches Resort of your choice

Round 1: SHOW BIZ

He gets the WC right away w/ a T, buys five E’s, and calls up an $800 Y, followed by an A and two I’s, four $550 P’s…

E Y E – P _ P P I _ _
_ P E _ I A _
E _ _ E _ T _

…and his $2,750 solve of EYE-POPPING SPECIAL EFFECTS to go to $4,750.

Mystery Round: BEFORE & AFTER

Paula’s chance at greatness starts w/ a $900 T, two I’s, but then the BANKRUPT near TD. Second, Suzanne picks up the 1/2 CAR next to the pink $900 w/ two S’s, buys two A’s, but she and Curtis both spin up that same BANKRUPT, so she loses the $750 remainder and her plate while he must give back that WC. After Paula wastes another turn w/ the other normal one, Suzanne picks off a $500 M, three K’s, and R for the other 1/2 CAR, and the remaining vowels of an O and two E’s. She follows w/ a $1,400 pair of D’s and three W’s while on the MW near LaT before taking the money for those…

I T ‘ S / A / S M A L L
W I D E / W E _

…and says “IT’S A SMALL WORLD WIDE WEB” for another $6,400. She did the right thing in not going for that MW, because that’s the BANKRUPT one.

BANKRUPTS: 4 (Paula 2x)

Curtis: $4,750/Paula: $0/Suzanne: $7,400 1/2 CAR

PP/Express Round: FUN & GAMES

Suzanne’s first moves are an $1,800 pair of S’s, two E’s, but then the BANKRUPT near TD to forfeit $1,550 and her plate. Second, Curtis retrieves the 1/2 CAR near the orange $900 w/ two R’s, but then buys the sole dud vowel of A. Third, Paula gets into BANKRUPT trouble for the third time tonight w/ the one near $650. After Suzanne misses w/ B, Curtis lights up a $2,100 trio of N’s, two I’s, and a G for the other 1/2 CAR (Pat mistakenly said the first plate he got is no good since Suzanne just lost hers). After he buys the other two good vowels…

_ R E _ E N _ O U S
_ I N _ S U R _ I N G

…he’s won another $17,290 cash & Fiesta, and will have to do some TREMENDOUS WINDSURFING on his trip to the Sandals Negril Beach Resort & Spa in JAMAICA!

DUDS: A (Curtis), B (Suzanne)
BANKRUPTS: 2 (ladies)

Curtis: $28,040 cash & prizes/Paula: ROTTEN LUCK/Suzanne: $7,400

$3K Tossup: PHRASE

T _ _ / L A _ T
_ _ R _ W

Paula rightly said that was THE LAST STRAW she had w/ those BANKRUPTs she got.

Well, maybe she spoke too soon, because she’s instantly BANKRUPTed near $650. Suzanne secondly spots a $900 N, buys five A’s, but gets the exact same fate as her (that’s her third one tonight). Third for Curtis are a $900 D, but than a faulty E purchase. Paula next puts up a $500 R, but that same BANKRUPT gets her again (and it’s her FIFTH one tonight). After Suzanne puts up a TD T and repeats the A, we mercifully go into S-U mode…

_ A _ T R A _ _
A N D / _ A _ A _ _

…w/ the leftover consonants worth $1,900 each. After the last vowel of two I’s have been lit up by Vanna…

_ A S T R A _ I
A N D / S A L A _ I

Curtis eats up some PASTRAMI AND SALAMI for $2,550.

BANKRUPTS: 3 (women again, two by Paula)
SOLE DQ: Suzanne’s A repeat

Curtis: $30,590 cash & prizes/Paula: $3K/Suzanne: $7,400

GT: $40,990
BANKRUPT TRASH (excluding extras): $4,100 (I’m surprised it wasn’t that high given all those BANKRUPTs)

$100K Bonus Round
Let’s hope Curtis can end this week on a good note as he spins up the A of GAME.

Category: PERSON
I got this one already…

_ _ _ L _ _ N _
_ _ N E R

GCDI pretty much gives him the first word…

_ _ I L D I N G
_ _ N E R

…but he STILL DOESN’T get either part of BUILDING OWNER for the $32K.

$5K SPIN ID: GM6780429

Nine BANKRUPTS again? At least it wasn't 11 and not that much money lost.

And if we're on Spring Break, why are the trips to Sandals resorts? I think we're on the Sandals set instead – maybe it's the car.

  2. Lance Berkman April 25, 2015 / 1:34 pm

I thought this was obvious, so I'll declare this a technical win.

  3. JP Mackey April 25, 2015 / 4:44 pm

Uh, I don't think an obvious puzzle deserves a technical win at all.

I agree JP. At least the show weren't harsh. My rating would been a 3 based on 9 bankrupts, but my official rating is 7 thanks to a half car win and over $30K

Andy, I sincerely apologize for all this trolling I did to you yesterday. What's really happening is that I am having a meltdown about not being able to view the channels I get because of a Time Warner situation that's not going well. I need a cable box for this and I don't know when I will get it. Will you accept my apology?

The answer is NO!!! You are the ultimate definition of a troll, you motherfucking bitch! I don 't think anybody will forgive you. You are a DEAD MAN!!!
